Support for Church Planting

We encourage various ministries as a support for our church planting focus. We only give a few examples here. In each country or area we seek to respond to the specific needs that exist.

In Hungary, Poland and Spain, English teaching is used as a point of contact. There are opportunities particularly in short term teams that are sent during the summer months.

Radio ministry is used in Austria, broadcasting into Albania and Kosovo. It also features in Italy.

In Albania itself, the churches and our missionaries found themselves involved in aid distribution. Following on from this there are now opportunities for Christians to assist in the rebuilding of Kosovo with potential for church planting work.

There are openings through Bible Colleges in Portugal, through the Portuguese Bible Institute. And in Albania, through the Albanian Bible Institute.

In Germany, we organise evangelism among refugees in the many camps that are scattered around the country.

In Spain, drug rehabilitation is one of our ministries.

We acknowledge the value of all these ministries and are willing to examine any application to see how it might fit into our overall church planting strategy.

There is also a small team of workers based in Vienna with responsibilities towards Eastern Europe. They are engaged in producing literature for Eastern European countries. Literature is printed and made available for distribution to evangelists and churches. These include:

  • New Testaments: new translations
  • Evangelistic literature including tracts and follow-up booklets
  • Theological handbooks

Albania's Communist dictator, Enver Hoxha, proclaimed his country to be the world's first truly atheistic state. Under Hoxha's rule, Captain Berti Dosti was one of the elite who served on a communications team monitoring Albania's borders for American incursions. However, this diligent soldier left his country unguarded for 15 minutes a week as he regularly tuned into Trans World Radio's broadcasts, ultimately becoming a believer. Had he been discovered he would probably have been shot. Yet this young man with a growing faith continued to listen and would later pioneer the rebuilding of Albania's wrecked society.
