Overview

Albania is the land that God opened through prayer and in which He is continuing to work in surprising ways. The ECM team is involved in developing new fellowships.  Increasingly we are looking to local people to be the future leaders of the churches and possibly for the ongoing ECM work in Albania. There is a growing awareness that our churches can meet the many community needs of the country and a number of initiatives are underway including schools, work with the disabled, business enterprise, helping the poor etc. This means that we have many opportunities to involve people with a variety of skills for the long and short term. Throughout the year we have teams of people from churches helping with evangelism, teaching, building, youth work and in many other ways.

Lushnje
Pastor Berti Dosti was the founder of the church in Lushnje (Albania). He listened to Trans World Radio broadcasts into Albania and was converted soon after the country opened its doors. There is also a school for teaching of English and computing to over 400 pupils. There are many community projects especially amongst the poor, the disabled, hospitals and families.

Tirana
The Way of Peace church in Tirana (led by Andy and Ela Oliver) is in a densely populated suburb of the city. There is great potential here for reaching people of many walks of life. For a few years now the church has been instrumental in organising Langham Partnership teaching seminars for leaders. There is a continuing progremme of evangelistic outreach by the members and teams who come to help.

Fier
The work in Fier, as well as Patos, is led by Will and Doreta Niven.  The focus is on training local leadership and regular teaching for living the Christian life. There are many opportunities for outreach and community work in the town.

Patos
The ministry in Patos was planted by a New Zealand family and is now overseen by Will and Doreta Niven. The church has seen many young people come to faith from this small town. However, it faces the constant challenge of unemployment with the result that these same young people leave to find work in the Tirana or overseas.
