The "Good Samaritan" association was born in 1993 with the purpose of demonstrating Jesus Christ´s love to those affected by various addictions. Its purpose is to prevent drug use/abuse, to provide assistance to those affected by drug abuse, to teach prevention to families and the community and finally, to help people in the process of recovery from drug/substance abuse to facilitate their re-integration into society.
In the last 25 years, programs have been developed to give social guidance and care to the socially excluded. The organization is also involved in food distribution and care for people in social emergency. All this takes place in the different places where we are present in Spain. El Buen Samaritano has helped over 550 men and women directly.
The "Buen Samaritano" technical team is made of professionals, volunteers and missionaries of various nationalities who all have multidisciplinary approaches. The rehabilitation center is on a property of about 12 acres, where they produce and sell ecological-extra-virgin olive oil, as a form of self-financing and self-sustainability (for more information, visit www.buensam.org).
This ministry is fully integrated into ECM´s approach of church planting and works closely with other local churches of Spain. The association is the social branch of the Evangelical Missionary Andalusian Church (IEMA in Spanish), created in 1986 to be the national expression of the Ministry of the European Christian Mission in the Cordoba and Andalusia regions.
The rehabilitation center also runs camps for children and teens. Volunteer groups are welcomed to support and collaborate on specific projects.
