REACHING THE 98%

Budapest moves quickly—trams rattling across bridges, students filling cafés, conversations spilling onto pavements late into the night. On the Buda side of the Danube, ECMI workers Tamás and Virág are part of that movement—planting a new church.

In the beginning, relationships grew slowly as trust takes time in a city where many have never been part of a church before. That’s why Tamás and Virág created the ‘Waymaker Café’, a welcoming space where people could feel comfortable and explore faith at their own rhythm. 

As those relationships deepened, fruit began to grow. Just three years in, and their programmes for women, youth and families are already thriving. Their youth weekly gathering, TTT (Time To Talk), now has more than 30 regular attendees, and their initiative and energy are bringing fresh life to the community… and a whole lot of creative ideas!

Today, a vibrant church is emerging in Budapest with a vision for multiplication — reaching students, discipling the next generation, and welcoming seekers into the hope of Christ. ECMI longs to see this happening not only in Budapest, but in every city in Europe.
